Happsy Mattresses Review

Looking for a quality organic mattress at an affordable price? If so, be sure to take a closer look at Happsy. The company’s organic mattresses are delivered to their customers’ doors at no extra charge.

Happsy Mattresses Special Features

What makes Happsy stand out from the rest? Components like natural cotton and wool batting, for one thing! The natural latex in the comfort layer comes from Sri Lanka and India, and is made with 100 percent renewable sap from the Para rubber tree Hevea Brasiliensis. Happsy goes a step further, assuring that the sap used in their latex is hand-harvested for sustainability, and that workers receive fair treatment as well as fair wages.

This mattress is made in America. It contains no volatile chemicals including fire retardants, and all materials are Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified. Happsy carries a number of other certifications, including Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS), GREENGUARD Gold, and more. In addition, the company carries endorsements from the Organic Consumers Association (OCA), Organic Trade Association (OTA), Green America, and other environmental organizations. Happsy donates a portion of its proceeds to charitable organizations including 1% For The Planet

Organic mattresses can be pretty expensive, so we were surprised to discover that Happsy’s prices are a little lower than those offered by some other top-rated companies – a queen size was $1199 when we checked. That’s not all: In an effort to provide sustainable bedding options to people on tight budgets, Happsy offers financing. The company states that its lower than average prices reflect its direct shipping method as well as its high sales volume.

Happsy Mattresses Materials

All materials that go into Happsy mattresses are sustainably harvested and environmentally friendly. The company’s mattress covers are made with organic cotton, which has been woven into a cozy, breathable stretch-knit fabric. Layers of organic cotton batting provide additional comfort.

Next comes a two-inch layer of natural latex, which offers a touch of bounce while conforming to the body’s contours, but without the “stuck” feeling that can sometimes occur with memory foam. Because latex can retain some heat, this comfort layer features hollow channels for better airflow.

A layer of organic wool serves as a natural fire retardant while separating the latex from the support layer. As in other hybrid mattresses, this layer consists of a series of pocketed coils for reliable support without uncomfortable pressure points. The individually-wrapped coils are made from recycled metal, and provide a very springy feel that’s sometimes described as being slightly reminiscent of a traditional innerspring mattress.

Happsy Mattresses: Models Available

Happsy mattresses offer hybrid construction, which most people find comfortable for their preferred sleeping position. The company offers only one comfort level – medium firm.

Happsy Organic Mattress

Because the coils move independently, there’s far better motion isolation than you’ll find in an organic innerspring mattress. Even so, there’s a good level of bounce when direct pressure is applied. Sturdy perimeter coils offer firm edge support, so sleepers aren’t subjected to sagging if they drift toward the edges of the bed.

Back sleepers tend to enjoy this bed, and because it offers medium-firm support, many side sleepers like it, too. Despite its great reviews, the Happsy mattress isn’t perfect for everyone. It might feel a bit too firm for side sleepers who prefer a very soft mattress, and it may feel too soft for stomach sleepers who tend to prefer very firm mattresses. Since the company offers a generous sleep trial though, it’s definitely worth a try – and if you’re among those who prefers a plush mattress, you can add an organic topper for a softer feel.

If you don’t think Happsy is right for you and you’re not fully committed to sleeping on a 100 percent organic mattress, you’ll find that ZenHaven, Loom & Leaf, and Saatva offer a compromise with mattresses at different comfort levels. These companies use eco-friendly components including organic cotton.

Happsy sleeps cooler than memory foam, and has very few complaints about sleeping hot. If you’re in the minority and cooling is a priority, you may want to consider a mattress with cooling features built in. Tanda, Eight, and Muse are three companies with unique approaches to keeping their customers cool.

The Happsy organic mattress comes in the following sizes:

  • Twin
  • Twin XL
  • Full
  • Queen
  • King
  • California King

Happsy Organic Crib Mattress

Happsy is one of a handful of companies to offer organic crib mattresses at surprisingly low prices. Parents who opt for a Happsy crib mattress are treated to a free set of sheets, and a full line of organic baby bedding is available as well.

Happsy Organic Bedding Accessories

In addition to mattresses, Happsy offers organic mattress pads, mattress toppers, pillows, and sheets. Pricing is competitive, so consumers who want organic bedding have the opportunity to enjoy it without compromising their budgets.

Happsy Mattresses: Compatible Frames and Foundations

Happsy mattresses require a flat, supportive surface. A platform bed with slats no more than three inches apart will do, and if you like the idea of using an adjustable foundation, you’ll be glad to know that this mattress will work with the one you choose.

Happsy Mattresses: Delivery, Setup, Off Gassing, and More

Like most other mattresses sold online, Happsy mattresses are tightly compressed and rolled before being packaged in a box and shipped to your door within about five days of the order date. Shipping is free in the continental U.S.

The queen size is fairly heavy – at about 110 pounds, it can be tough for the average person to maneuver alone. With this in mind, we recommend that you get some help with unboxing if needed. Happsy does offer help with setup in some areas, but there is a charge for this added level of service.

Once the mattress has been unboxed and the plastic-encased roll has been placed on your foundation, it’s time to finish unpacking. Happsy provides a convenient cutting tool with their packing materials. After watching the company’s instructions for setup, cut the first layer of plastic open, unroll the mattress, and flip it over so it’s right side up. Last but certainly not least, slice open the inner layer of plastic and allow your new mattress to expand to its full size. Unlike most memory foam mattresses, this mattress is ready to sleep on within about half an hour. The company does note that it can take a few days for all the wrinkles to smooth out.

Because Happsy mattresses are 100 percent organic with no volatile chemicals, there is no off gassing. Any odor you notice comes from the natural components. Latex does have a distinctive scent, but it dissipates quickly.

Happsy Mattresses Trial Period

Happsy mattresses come with a 120-night sleep trial, which is plenty of time for the average person to determine whether they like the way the mattress feels. It’s worth noting that the company recommends that its customers keep the packaging in case they decide that this mattress isn’t the right one. This can be inconvenient, but returns are free.

Happsy Mattresses Warranty

The Happsy warranty is 10 years, which is about average. The warranty covers materials as well as workmanship, and the company strives to satisfy its customers by replacing or repairing defective mattresses depending on the issue at hand.
