Over the years, your sleeping style may change. The Ecosa mattress is one of the only options on the market that can adapt to your changing preferences.
This 3-in-1 mattress allows you to choose from three levels of firmness that you can adjust at any time by unzipping and flipping the inner layers.
With the ability to choose your preferred level of firmness without compromising on comfort and support, the Ecosa mattress is unmatched in versatility and value.
We tested the mattress and the Ecosa memory foam pillow ourselves for three nights to bring you this review.

Ecosa was launched in 2015 with a single goal in mind – to help people sleep better. The idea was to find the right balance of design, ergonomics, and quality materials to create a transformative sleeping experience.
The result is the Ecosa mattress.
The Ecosa mattress consists of three layers that work together to distribute your body weight as evenly as possible, providing optimal support and comfort without pressure points.
In addition to the three-layer memory foam construction, this mattress features an inner waterproof cover to protect against moisture and dust mites.
The outer cover is also removable and washable – it helps promote air movement to keep you cool.
Before we take a closer look at the Ecosa mattress, let’s take a peek at some of the pros and cons:
Pros for the Ecosa Mattress:
- Supportive, breathable 3-layer memory foam construction
- Two removable covers, one is waterproof
- Doesn’t need to be flipped or rotated except to adjust firmness
- Can be used on any surface including adjustable bases
Cons for the Ecosa Mattress:
- No soft option, softest side is medium-firm
- Edge support is not as strong as other memory foam mattresses
- Process to change firmness levels is something of a hassle
- Trial period is shorter than some brands (100 days)
Now that you have a better understanding of the Ecosa mattress and what makes it unique let’s delve deeper into some of the features.
Review of Ecosa Mattress Features
The Ecosa mattress is a 3-layer memory foam mattress with adjustable levels of firmness. It features a removable, washable cover as well as an inner waterproof cover that protects against moisture and dust mites.
The mattress is a little bit thinner than some memory foam mattresses at 10 inches, but it provides excellent support and minimizes motion transfer.
FIt is also one of the best mattresses on the market for breathability, thanks to its unique construction.
Here’s a quick review of the Ecosa mattress’s construction:
- An outer removable, washable cover
- An inner removable waterproof cover
- A top layer of G-7 gel memory foam
- A middle layer of open-cell Eco-Tex foam
- A bottom layer of grooved ergonomic support foam
The Ecosa mattress is engineered to support the spine’s natural alignment to ensure a comfortable night of restorative sleep.
The outer cover zips off for machine washing and is designed to promote airflow to keep you cool and comfortable at night.
The inner cover features German micro-filament technology for waterproof protection against moisture and dust mites.
The three memory foam layers can be flipped to adjust the level of firmness.
The top layer consists of G-7 gel memory foam designed to promote temperature stabilization.
The middle layer consists of open-cell Eco-Tex memory foam that has the kind of bounce you’d get from latex, but it is both more breathable and durable.
The bottom layer is ergonomic support foam with scientifically-cut grooves to ensure proper spine alignment.
In addition to the unique 3-layer construction, the Ecosa mattress has a few other features that make it easy to use.
The bottom of the mattress is covered in little dots to help keep it in place.
The top two layers of foam have small pin-core holes, and the bottom layer is cut with deep grooves to allow air to flow freely throughout the night.
What really makes the Ecosa mattress unique is the fact that you can adjust the level of firmness according to your preference.
The Ecosa mattress offers three firmness levels, all of which are at or above a medium level of firmness.
Unboxing and Setup
The Ecosa mattress is compressed and shipped in a box. We tested the Queen size and found it to be fairly manageable in terms of size and weight, especially when compared to innerspring mattresses.
After opening the box the Ecosa mattress came in, we found that the mattress was folded in half then rolled and packaged in plastic.
The roll was easy to slide out of the box and place on the bed frame. From there, we simply used the included cutting tool to remove the plastic and unfold the mattress.
It regained its shape fairly quickly and didn’t give off any odor.
If you want to adjust the firmness of the Ecosa mattress, you’ll need to remove both the outer polyester cover as well as the inner waterproof protector.
Both are designed to zip off easily, though we had a little trouble with the zipper catching, especially around the corners.
Once the covers are removed, you can lift and flip the memory foam layers to achieve your desired level of firmness.
Support and Motion Transfer
With three layers of memory foam, the Ecosa mattress is medium-firm and very supportive.
The first layer consists of G-7 memory foam and stands about 1.5 inches tall. This foam is infused with gel particles to dissipate heat for improved temperature regulation.
This layer is blue for easy identification and, when placed on top, creates a medium level of firmness.
The second layer consists of 1.5 inches of Eco-Tex open-cell memory foam engineered to be bouncy like latex but more breathable and durable.
This layer cradles your body but still offers a quick response time, so you’ll have no trouble getting out of bed.
Place this layer on top for a medium-firm level of support. If you prefer a firm mattress, place the 6.5-inch layer of ergonomic support form on top.
This layer is yellow in color and features deep grooves for breathability.
Though the Ecosa mattress may not be as tall as other memory foam mattresses, it offers exceptional support and does a great job minimizing motion transfer.
The memory foam layer has a slightly slower response time than the other two layers, giving you a feeling of sinking into the mattress, feeling it conform around your body.
The other two layers have a much faster response time but less bounce. All three layers offer exceptional motion isolation.
The Ecosa mattress offers excellent support for your body and spine, but it is somewhat lacking in edge support.
Most bed-in-a-box mattresses have this problem, partially due to the compression process that allows them to be shipped in small boxes.
The mattress is perfectly supportive during sleep, however, so you may only notice edge compression when sitting or lying close to the side.
Sizing and Pricing Information
The Ecosa mattress is available in six sizes ranging from Twin to California King. While there is only one mattress option available, every Ecosa mattress comes with three adjustable layers of memory foam.
Depending on the configuration, you can achieve a medium, medium-firm, or firm level of firmness.
Here is a rundown of the measurements, weights, and prices for each size:
Size | Measurements | Weight | Retail Price |
Twin | 39” x 75” x 10” | 42 lbs. | $600 |
Twin XL | 39” x 80” x 10” | 46 lbs. | $650 |

This price is highly competitive and similar to pricing for other memory foam mattresses currently on the market.
Ecosa is able to offer such competitive pricing because they only sell their mattresses online and therefore don’t have much overhead.
To save even more, look for promotions on the website such as $100 off a new mattress or discounts when you purchase a pillow.
If there is a promotion running, the discount will automatically be applied to your purchase. Payment can be made via credit card or Paypal. You also have the option to pay off the mattress over time using Klarna.
With Klarna credit, you receive zero-interest financing for 6 months. If you don’t pay it off within 6 months, you’ll be retroactively charged 19.99% APR from the transaction date. Minimum monthly payments are required.
In addition to the Ecosa mattress, you can purchase add-ons like the Ecosa pillow, a silk pillowcase, a mattress topper, and bamboo sheets.
Shipping, Returns, and Warranty Information
In addition to a 100-night trial period, Ecosa offers free shipping to any location in the United States.
Outside of the United States, Ecosa also ships to Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. Delivery is made via FedEx Ground and usually takes between 1 and 7 business days. For deliveries in the contiguous United States, the average time is 1 to 5 days – deliveries to Alaska and Hawaii may take 3 to 7 business days.
You’ll be sent a tracking number when your order ships so you can track your delivery.
If you ultimately decide not to keep the mattress, you can simply contact the company to arrange pickup. The mattress will be donated to and collected by the Salvation Army, after which you’ll be issued a full refund.
The same trial period and returns process applies to the Ecosa pillow.
The Ecosa mattress is made with high-quality materials and comes with a protective cover to maximize its lifespan. You’ll also be glad to know that it is covered by a 15-year warranty.
This limited warranty applies to the original purchaser of the mattress and covers the following defects in workmanship and materials as long as it has been in normal domestic use and treated properly:
- Deterioration causing visible indentation greater than 1 inch (not resulting from improper use or an unsupportive foundation).
- Physical flaws in the mattress causing the foam to split or crack.
- Manufacturing defect in the zipper assembly or the fabric of the mattress cover.
The Ecosa warranty starts from the date of delivery and extends 15 years from that date.
Depending on the situation, you may be granted a replacement mattress or repairs will be made to your existing mattress.
The warranty does not give you the right to a refund. The Ecosa pillow is covered by a 100-day warranty that covers manufacturer defects in the pillow or cover that affects its use or function.
With 100 nights to test the Ecosa mattress, you have plenty of time to decide whether it’s the perfect fit. If you decide that you don’t completely love it, return it for a full refund with free pickup.
Review of the Ecosa Memory Foam Pillow
You may think that if you’ve seen one memory foam pillow, you’ve seen them all, but the Ecosa memory foam pillow is unique. It is priced at $100, but you can save by purchasing additional pillows at a discounted rate.
Here is an overview of the Ecosa pillow’s features:
- Ergonomic design for comfort and support
- Adjustable height for proper spine alignment
- 100-night trial period with free shipping and returns
- Removable, machine-washable cover
- Activated charcoal memory foam controls odors
In the same way that you can adjust the firmness of the Ecosa mattress, you can adjust the height of the Ecosa pillow.
Not only does it come with a removable, breathable cover that is machine-washable, but it also comes with two removable insert pads so you can adjust the height to ensure proper spine alignment.
The shape of the pillow itself is ergonomically designed for optimal comfort and support.
The Ecosa pillow is covered by the same 100-night trial period as the mattress, and it is delivered to your door in 2 to 7 business days.
This pillow features an innovative 3D structure that disperses heat and moisture away from the pillow’s surface.
It isn’t any ordinary memory foam, either – it is activated charcoal memory foam designed to control odor and offer antibacterial protection.
When we first opened the box, it was apparent that the Ecosa pillow was no ordinary memory foam pillow.
Other pillows we’ve tried are too firm and don’t conform well to the body for comfort and support.
The Ecosa pillow was much softer than other memory foam pillows but still provided plenty of support. Plus, the two removable pads made it easy to customize the height for optimal comfort.
In addition to being supportive, the Ecosa pillow offered excellent breathability. The unique structure lived up to its promise in wicking away moisture and heat for a cooler sleeping experience.
The three-night testing period wasn’t enough to really test the pillow’s antimicrobial and odor-control properties, but we didn’t find the pillow to have much of an odor in and of itself.
Now that you have a better understanding of the Ecosa pillow let’s review some of the pros and cons.
Pros for the Ecosa Pillow:
- Unique 3D shape for comfort and breathability
- Adjustable height to ensure optimal spine alignment
- Excellent odor control and washable cover
- Covered by 100-night trial with free shipping and returns
- Comes with a handy travel bag
Cons for the Ecosa Pillow:
- May be too soft for some sleepers
- Pillow warranty is only 100 days
- Fairly expensive compared to traditional pillows
If you’re looking for the ultimate sleeping solution, the Ecosa mattress offers adjustable levels of firmness with excellent support and breathability. To optimize your sleeping experience, we highly recommend purchasing the Ecosa pillow as well.
Is the Ecosa Mattress Right for You?
Overall, the Ecosa mattress is a highly supportive mattress and a great option for sleepers who prefer a firmer sleeping surface.
Though the mattress is adjustable, the softest level is still a medium on the firmness scale (about a 6/10), and the firmest level is about 7.5 out of 10.
The Ecosa mattress is competitively priced and ships for free, though the 100-day trial period isn’t as long as some companies are offering.
The Ecosa pillow is also very impressive, conforming to the shape of your head for both comfort and support. It wasn’t as hard as other memory foam pillows, and the adjustable height feature is a bonus.
Though the Ecosa mattress is great, it’s not the right choice for everyone.
The Ecosa mattress is great for sleepers who:
- Prefer a firmer mattress with no motion transfer.
- Who tend to sleep hot and want a mattress that promotes air circulation.
- Want a mattress with removable covers for maximum protection.
- You like to sleep on your stomach, or you carry a little extra weight.
The Ecosa mattress may not be the perfect fit if you:
- Prefer the feel of an innerspring mattress or a softer memory foam.
- You tend to sleep on your side, because the mattress may be too firm.
Final Thoughts
The only way to know for sure if the Ecosa mattress is the perfect fit for you is to try it yourself.
With free shipping in the United States and a 100-day trial period, you can test the mattress for a full three months before making your ultimate decision. If you choose not to keep it, returns are free.
No matter which mattress you choose, caring for it properly will help you extend its lifespan.
The Ecosa mattress is unique in that it is designed for use on any surface, including the floor, but you need to be mindful of concerns regarding moisture, humidity, and condensation.
Wash the removable cover often to keep the mattress clean and stand the mattress up on occasion to let it breathe.
