Tanda is among just a few mattress brands to offer reliable cooling technology. A bit cooler than some other mattresses we’ve reviewed, it’s ideal for those who tend to sleep hot. Incredibly, the company’s “Complete Cool” mattress can feel too cold to some people. Its “Comfy Cool” mattress is a touch warmer. Read on for an in-depth review of Tanda. In just a few minutes, you’ll know all about the innovations that go into these unique cooling mattresses!
Tanda Mattresses Special Features
Tanda mattresses are made with Phase Change Materials (PCMs), which play an important role in keeping users feeling cool and comfortable. Tanda mattresses feel cool when you lie down on them, and are meant to retain their cool feel as you sleep. Tanda’s Complete Cool mattresses use a fabric treatment called Advanced Temperature Regulation for Optimal Sleep (ATROS), which is designed to pull cool air to the room and transfer it to your body. This feature works best in rooms with thermostats set at 65 to 73 degrees Fahrenheit. If you tend to sleep hot, you can set your thermostat even lower: According to the experts at Sleep.org, the ideal temperature for sleep is between 60 and 67 degrees.
Tanda Mattresses Materials
Beneath the Tanda mattress’s cooling cover, you’ll find a comfort layer made with Opti-Breeze foam. This foam has been designed to combine comfort and durability while contributing to better air flow.
Next comes the transition zone, which is made with open-cell foam. This layer helps prevent motion transfer. Like the comfort layer, it is designed to optimize air flow to the mattress’s surface.
The support base is designed with firm foam for supportive, durable comfort. Different levels of firmness are built into the entire base so sleepers never feel like they’re sinking into the mattress.
The mattress’s covers are made with a blend of polyester and Tencel® fiber. Like the rest of the materials that go into these mattresses, the fabric that comprises the cover is designed to help with cooling. While the cover can be spot-cleaned with mild soap and water, it should not be removed, laundered, or dry-cleaned.
Tanda Mattresses: Models Available
Tanda offers two mattress models: The Complete Cool and the Comfy Cool. Both models offer the same “medium firm” feel, which is on the firmer side of medium for reliable lumbar support. Side, back, and stomach sleepers like this mattress for the most part, although some people find that it feels a bit too firm. This company also offers cooling pillows, which are made with the same technology as its mattresses. Both mattress models are priced alike; the Queen size was $950 when we checked.
We’ve heard that Tanda plans to offer a “Couples Cool mattress” with different cooling technology on each side, but at the time of this review, it has yet to be released.
Tanda Complete Cool Mattress
The Tanda Complete Cool Mattress is 10 inches high, with an ATROS cooling cover, an Opti-Breeze foam comfort layer, and an open-cell transition zone. The feel is medium-firm, for minimal motion transfer and reliable edge support. Like all Tanda products, this mattress is made in America. Reviewers mention that they feel comfortably cool when sleeping on it, even when other mattresses make them feel hot and sweaty. Most appreciate the comfort level, mentioning that they feel well-supported but relaxed.
The Tanda Complete Cool mattress comes in the following sizes:
- Twin
- Twin XL
- Full
- Queen
- King
- California King
Tanda Comfy Cool Mattress
Tanda’s Comfy Cool Mattress is 10 inches high, with less cooling material than the Complete Cool mattress. Like its cousin, it offers excellent breathability, and is designed to offer a good level of support without feeling too firm. Motion transfer is minimal, and there’s plenty of edge support so you don’t feel as if you’re going to roll off the mattress as you make your way away from its center.

Tanda Mattresses: Compatible Frames and Foundations
Tanda offers specially designed frames and foundations, which are engineered to help reduce motion transfer between sleeping partners. They aren’t required, however; you can use any solid platform with this mattress, or you can use a slatted platform with narrow gaps between the slats. Because the Tanda mattress is made with memory foam, it requires plenty of support. If you’re using an older box spring or foundation, double-check to ensure that there is absolutely no sagging on its surface.
Tanda Mattresses: Delivery, Setup, Off Gassing, and More
Tanda mattresses come with free shipping. They arrive on their new owners’ doorsteps within a week or two of ordering, neatly boxed and wrapped in layers of protective plastic. Like most memory foam mattresses that arrive in a compressed state, this one is bulky! It does weigh a little less than some others we’ve reviewed, but you may want to get some help if you think you’ll have trouble maneuvering it to the bedroom and onto the foundation.
Once the packaging has been removed with the enclosed cutting tool, you can expect to enjoy full inflation within the span of an hour or two. Sometimes mattresses take longer to inflate – factors like cold air temperature and low ventilation can be the cause of the extended time frame.
There’s a touch of new product smell when opening the Tanda mattress, but its level of off gassing is a bit lower than we’ve found in some other mattresses, particularly in economy models. Opening a window can help with odor dissipation. If off gassing of any kind is a deal breaker for you, then you might want to consider a natural or organic mattress made with no VOCs. Happsy, Loom & Leaf, Saatva, and ZenHaven are some of the best brands in this category.
Tanda Mattresses Trial Period
The Tanda mattress comes with a 100-night sleep trial, which is about average for the mattress industry. The company arranges for pickup of mattresses that fail to satisfy their new owners, and they attempts to donate those mattresses to charity when permitted by local laws.
Tanda Mattresses Warranty
Tanda mattresses are covered by a 10-year limited warranty, which is similar to many other warranties in the mattress industry. If you think this is the right mattress for you, be sure to read the warranty so that you know what’s covered.
